Can I See Open Sales Order Lists in QuickBooks?

Ask the Accountant:

Question: Is there a way to see what a sales order is for in an open sales order list in QuickBooks?

Answer: It can be frustrating to look at a list of open sales orders by Customer and not know which order is for which product. There is a workaround for that. When creating or adjusting a sales order, put the product name (such as “pens”) or any other descriptor you want in the “Memo” field, which is in the lower left corner of the Sales Order screen.

When you run the Open Sales Order by Customer List (Reports > Sales > Open Sales Orders by Customer), the “Memo” field is included in the stock report, so you can better identify which order is which at a glance.
